# Delete a message

`DELETE /conversation-messages/{messageId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.ando.so/v1`

- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `x-api-key`
  - HTTP bearer

Deletes a message authored by the authenticated API-key workspace membership, exactly as its author deleting it in the app: the message is removed for everyone, its body, attachments and reactions are cleared, and replies under a thread root stay in their thread. Requires messages:write. A message that does not exist, is not visible to the key, was authored by someone else, or is already deleted returns 404 Message not found, so repeating a delete is safe and reveals nothing. No webhook event is emitted.

## Path parameters

- `messageId` string, required: Message identifier.

## Response `200`

Deleted message.

- DeleteConversationMessageResponse: Deleted message response.
  - `data` object, required: Deleted message data.
    - `message` object, required: The message that was deleted.
      - `conversation_id` string, required: Conversation the message was deleted from.
      - `deleted_at` string, date-time, required: Message deletion timestamp.
      - `id` string, required: Deleted message identifier.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request.
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key.
- `403`: Forbidden.
- `404`: Not found.
- `409`: Conflict.
- `429`: Rate limit or quota exceeded.
- `500`: Internal server error.
