# Delete Volume

`DELETE /v1/volumes/{volume_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.anchorbrowser.io`
- URL: `https://api.anchorbrowser.io/v1/volumes/{volume_id}`
- Auth: API key in header `anchor-api-key`

Delete a volume and every file in it. Refused while a running session has the volume mounted; end those sessions first.

## Path parameters

- `volume_id` string, uuid, required

## Response `200`

Deletion finished (`deleted`) or still in progress (`deleting`)

    - `status` 'deleting' | 'deleted'

## Other responses

- `404`: Volume not found
- `409`: The volume is mounted by a running session
