# Ask AI Visibility

`POST /ai-visibility/search`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.anakin.io/v1`
- URL: `https://api.anakin.io/v1/ai-visibility/search`
- Auth: API key in header `X-API-Key`

Ask multiple AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overview) the same question and compare their answers. Asynchronous — poll GET /ai-visibility/search/{search_id} (with a delay in between) for the completed comparison and synthesis.

## Request body

- AIVisibilitySearchRequest
  - `query` string, required: The question to ask every engine (max 2000 characters).
  - `sources` string[]: Engine slugs to query (see List AI Visibility Sources). Omit to query all enabled engines.
  - `country` string: Two-letter ISO country for the search geography (proxy exit). Defaults to "us".

## Response `202`

Search accepted

- AIVisibilitySearchResult
  - `search_id` string: Search ID.
  - `status` 'running' | 'completed' | 'failed'
  - `country` string
  - `synthesis` string: AI-generated synthesis of where the engines agree and diverge.
  - `results` object[]: One entry per engine — status, answer summary (and full_content when requested), latency, credits used, and a consensus/outlier verdict.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request — missing or malformed body
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
