# Validate that a device is available to use.

`GET /v2/partition/{partitionId}/account/{accountId}/device/{macAddress}/validateproperties`

## Request

Validates that the macAddress is not currently in use on the account.

Or if the mac address is in use it validates that:
 * The device exists within the account or is available for use by the account.
 * The line number supplied is supported by the device.
 * The device is allowed on the partition.

 A successful validation for devices that do not exist on the account is not a guarantee that they are allowed for use by the account.

## Response `200`

Successful operation

- boolean: Did prevalidation pass or fail.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid request parameters
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `404`: The partitionId or accountId could not be found.
