# Get one country's currencies, routes and requirements

`GET /v1/countries/{country}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.sandbox.alfredpay.io`
- URL: `https://api.sandbox.alfredpay.io/v1/countries/{country}`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `api-key` and API key in header `api-secret`

The country is the resource. Everything you need to move money in or out of it comes back from this one read, with no query parameters.

`routes[]` is the route registry. Each entry is a supported combination of currency, destination type and rail, and carries:

* which operations it supports, `PAYOUT` or `COLLECTION`
* the identifier fields to collect when registering a destination of that kind
* whether a payout on it needs a quote
* its `status`, one of `LIVE`, `SANDBOX` or `TARGET`

A combination that isn't `LIVE` is refused with `route_unsupported` before anything is locked, at registration, at quote and at payout. You'll never discover it at settlement.

Wallet destinations have no country and don't appear here. A stablecoin wallet is registered with `chain` and `address` only, and is reachable on the `WALLET` rail for every chain in `Chain`.

Read each country once when you integrate, then again whenever `country.route.updated` fires. Providers and account identifiers are never part of a route.

**Wait on** `country.route.updated` to know when a route changes. See [Webhooks and events](/docs/webhooks-and-events).

## Path parameters

- `country` 'MEX' | 'ARG' | 'BRA' | 'COL' | 'CHL' | 'PER' | 'DOM' | 'USA' | 'CHN' | 'HKG' | 'BOL' | 'PRY', required: ISO 3166-1 alpha-3, the only form Alfred stores, filters on, reports or emits. Compatibility rule for integrations that can only send alpha-2: any inbound `country` value in alpha-2 (path, query or body) is normalized to alpha-3 at the boundary before validation, storage or routing. Unrecognized in either form → `422 validation_error`.

## Response `200`

OK

- CountryDetail
  - `code` 'MEX' | 'ARG' | 'BRA' | 'COL' | 'CHL' | 'PER' | 'DOM' | 'USA' | 'CHN' | 'HKG' | 'BOL' | 'PRY': ISO 3166-1 alpha-3, the only form Alfred stores, filters on, reports or emits. Compatibility rule for integrations that can only send alpha-2: any inbound `country` value in alpha-2 (path, query or body) is normalized to alpha-3 at the boundary before validation, storage or routing. Unrecognized in either form → `422 validation_error`.
  - `name` string
  - `currencies` Currency[]
  - `localStablecoin` 'MXNa' | 'ARSa' | 'COPa' | 'BRZ' | 'null', nullable
  - `routes` Route[]: The route registry for this country. Empty only if nothing is supported yet.
    - `country` 'MEX' | 'ARG' | 'BRA' | 'COL' | 'CHL' | 'PER' | 'DOM' | 'USA' | 'CHN' | 'HKG' | 'BOL' | 'PRY': ISO 3166-1 alpha-3, the only form Alfred stores, filters on, reports or emits. Compatibility rule for integrations that can only send alpha-2: any inbound `country` value in alpha-2 (path, query or body) is normalized to alpha-3 at the boundary before validation, storage or routing. Unrecognized in either form → `422 validation_error`.
    - `currency` 'USD' | 'HKD' | 'CNY' | 'MXN' | 'DOP' | 'COP' | 'BRL' | 'ARS' | 'CLP' | 'PEN' | 'BOB' | 'PYG' | 'USDC' | 'USDT': Fourteen members, reconciled to the countries a customer can be onboarded in. USDC and USDT are stablecoins and require `chain`.
    - `destinationType` 'BANK_ACCOUNT' | 'WALLET': What kind of thing the money lands in. Kept separate from the rail (how it gets there) and from the provider (who carries it).
    - `rail` 'ACH' | 'WIRE' | 'SPEI' | 'PIX' | 'COELSA' | 'FPS' | 'CHATS' | 'WALLET': The scheme family a payment moves on. Never a country, provider or account identifier. `ACH` is any domestic batch bank transfer (US ACH, and the local clearing houses of COL, CHL, PER, BOL, PRY, DOM, CHN); `WIRE` is RTGS/SWIFT/Fedwire; `SPEI`, `PIX`, `COELSA`, `FPS` and `CHATS` are named instant schemes with their own semantics (COELSA is Argentina's instant transfer, deliberately not folded into ACH); `WALLET` is a stablecoin destination. Cash pickup is not in this release and has no rail value yet. Which rails a destination supports is derived by Alfred and returned as `supportedRails[]`; which `(country, currency, rail)` combinations are live is published by `GET /v1/countries/{country}`.
    - `operations` string[]
    - `identifierTypes` IdentifierType[]: Identifier kinds that register as this destination type in this country.
    - `fields` object[]: What to collect when registering a destination on this route. This is the former linked-account requirement set, now carried by the route itself.
      - `name` string
      - `required` boolean
      - `description` string
    - `quote` object: Whether a payout on this route needs a quote, by pair shape.
      - `sameCurrency` 'NOT_REQUIRED': Funding balance currency equals the destination currency, so a plain transfer with no FX leg and no quote.
      - `parRedemption` 'NOT_REQUIRED' | 'OPTIONAL': USDC/USDT funding into USD, priced from the fee table at par; a quote may be passed to lock fees but is never required.
      - `crossCurrency` 'REQUIRED'
    - `status` 'LIVE' | 'SANDBOX' | 'TARGET': `LIVE` is tested end to end and enabled in production. `SANDBOX` is available and tested on the sandbox host only. `TARGET` is a planned capability, not yet callable anywhere. Only `LIVE` routes accept production traffic; anything else fails pre-lock with `route_unsupported`.
    - `limits` object, nullable
      - `perTransaction` string
      - `daily` string
