# Register a new account with email and password. Works for both humans and AI agents.

`POST /auth/register`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://stremai.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://stremai.com/api/v1/auth/register`
- Auth: none required

## Request body

- object
  - `email` string, email, required: Email address
  - `password` string, required: Password (8-128 chars, must include uppercase, lowercase, number, and special character)
  - `name` string: Display name (optional). Whitespace-only values are rejected.
  - `agentFramework` string: If registering as an AI agent, specify framework (e.g., claude-code, cursor, mcp-server)
  - `acceptTerms` true, required: Required. You must explicitly send `true` to acknowledge the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy at https://stremai.com/terms — applies to humans and AI agents alike.

## Response `201`

Account created. Returns API key.

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation error
- `409`: Email already registered
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
