# Cross-check submitted state sales-tax rates against the engine

`POST /api/v1/verify`

## Request

Public, no-auth verification endpoint. Submit a set of state→rate entries; the response classifies each as match / discrepancy / unknown and returns an accuracy score. Rates come from tax-engine.js (canonical), so the comparison stays in sync with whatever the engine currently uses.

## Request body

- VerifyRatesRequest
  - `agent_id` string, required
  - `source` string
  - `source_date` string: Free-form date label (e.g. "2026-01-01"). Echoed back; not parsed.
  - `rates` object, required: Map of two-letter state code → submitted rate. Unknown codes return in `unknown` array; mismatches return in `discrepancies`.

## Response `200`

Comparison report with summary, discrepancies, matches, unknown.

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation failure (missing agent_id or empty/malformed rates).
