# Fork a thread

`POST /threads/{id}/fork`

## Request

Continue one agent's conversation in a thread of its own, on a computer of its own. `columnId` names the agent (the first when omitted); `target` (`{agentType, llm?, reasoningEffort?}` or `{agentId, llm?}`) moves it to another agent or model; `messageId` stops the carried conversation at that message. Asking again with the same `requestId` after `fork_pending` resumes the fork.
