# Change which task events the caller is emailed and pushed about \[write\]

`PATCH /notification-preferences`

## Request

Send `email`, `push` or both, each with only the kinds to change; the response holds all of them. `email.marketing: false` unsubscribes the caller's own address from marketing email, the same opt-out as the unsubscribe link in a marketing email; 409 `no_email` for an account without an address. Answers 503 `not_available` for task kinds until the platform's notification tables are in place.

  - `notification_preferences` NotificationPreferences, required: The caller's own choices. They follow the person across workspaces.
    - `push` object, required: Which kinds reach the devices the caller subscribed (`/push-subscriptions`). Both on unless turned off; without a subscribed device nothing is pushed.
      - `needs_you` boolean, required: Notify my devices when one of my tasks starts waiting on me.
      - `done` boolean, required: Notify my devices when one of my tasks produces a result while I am away.
    - `email` object, required
      - `needs_you` boolean, required: Email me when one of my tasks starts waiting on me and I have not looked at it. On unless turned off.
      - `done` boolean, required: Email me when one of my tasks produces a result while I am away. Off unless turned on.
      - `marketing` boolean, required: Whether the caller's address still gets AgentSky marketing email. False once they unsubscribed, by an email's link or by this API. A bounce stops delivery but is not an unsubscribe. Login and account email are never affected.
