# Decline Invitation

`POST /v1/invitations/{invitation_id}/decline`

## Request

Decline a collaboration invitation or join request.

The endpoint is retry-safe for already declined invitations and checks
authorization before exposing whether the row was already accepted or
declined.

## Path parameters

- `invitation_id` string, required

## Response `200`

Retry-safe declined invitation receipt. Authorized retries for already declined rows return the same declined receipt without emitting duplicate decision webhooks.

  - `expires_at` string, date-time, nullable: When a pending invitation lapses (created_at + 7 days). Expired invitations cannot be accepted or declined; the sender can invite again.
  - `notification_status` string, nullable
  - `notification_outbox_status` 'queued' | 'processing' | 'dispatched' | 'not_configured' | 'uncertain', nullable: Durable invitation.received handoff state. queued is retryable without a provider attempt; dispatched has durable receiver outcomes; not_configured uses polling fallback; uncertain blocks automatic replay because provider acceptance may have occurred.
  - `notification_attempt_count` integer, nullable: Number of durable outbox claims made for this invitation.received event.

## Other responses

- `400`: The invitation is already in a different terminal state.
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: No invitation exists for the supplied id.
- `409`: Conflict
- `422`: Validation Error
- `429`: Rate Limit Exceeded
- `500`: Internal Server Error
