# Stop every agent in the workspace

`POST /v1/emergency-stop`

## Request

`{ reason? }` (up to 500 characters) stops every agent in the workspace: every send, reply, draft send and SMTP submission answers `423 workspace_stopped`, identity tokens are refused, scheduled drafts wait and the claim queue returns nothing. Reads, inbound mail and webhooks keep working. Needs `workspace:emergency` and an org-wide key. Emits `workspace.stopped`; returns `{ org }`. There is no API resume: an owner resumes in the dashboard. See [Emergency stop](https://agentboxd.com/docs/emergency-stop).
