# Ask issuer to notify the shopper

`POST /notifyShopper`

Sends a request to the issuer so they can inform the shopper about the upcoming recurring payment. This endpoint is used only for local acquiring in India. For more information, refer to [Recurring card payments in India](https://docs.adyen.com/payment-methods/cards/cards-recurring-india).

## Request body

- NotifyShopperRequest
  - `amount` Amount, required
    - `currency` string, required — The three-character [ISO currency code](https://docs.adyen.com/development-resources/currency-codes#currency-codes) of the amount.
    - `value` integer, required — The numeric value of the amount, in [minor units](https://docs.adyen.com/development-resources/currency-codes#minor-units).
  - `billingDate` string — Date on which the subscription amount will be debited from the shopper. In YYYY-MM-DD format
  - `billingSequenceNumber` string — Sequence of the debit. Depends on Frequency and Billing Attempts Rule.
  - `displayedReference` string — Reference of Pre-debit notification that is displayed to the shopper. Optional field. Maps to reference if missing
  - `merchantAccount` string, required — The merchant account identifier with which you want to process the transaction.
  - `recurringDetailReference` string — This is the `recurringDetailReference` returned in the response when you created the token.
  - `reference` string, required — Pre-debit notification reference sent by the merchant. This is a mandatory field
  - `shopperReference` string, required — The ID that uniquely identifies the shopper. This `shopperReference` must be the same as the `shopperReference` used in the initial payment.
  - `storedPaymentMethodId` string — This is the `recurringDetailReference` returned in the response when you created the token.

## Response `200`

OK - the request has succeeded.

  - `displayedReference` string — Reference of Pre-debit notification that is displayed to the shopper
  - `message` string — A simple description of the `resultCode`.
  - `pspReference` string — The unique reference that is associated with the request.
  - `reference` string — Reference of Pre-debit notification sent in my the merchant
  - `resultCode` string — The code indicating the status of notification.
  - `shopperNotificationReference` string — The unique reference for the request sent downstream.
  - `storedPaymentMethodId` string — This is the recurringDetailReference returned in the response when token was created

## Other responses

- `400` — Bad Request - a problem reading or understanding the request.
- `401` — Unauthorized - authentication required.
- `403` — Forbidden - insufficient permissions to process the request.
- `422` — Unprocessable Entity - a request validation error.
- `500` — Internal Server Error - the server could not process the request.
