# Delete an Asset

`DELETE /assets/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.adcrunch.dev`
- URL: `https://api.adcrunch.dev/assets/{id}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Deletes our copy of the bytes and removes the Asset from the library. A reservation can be deleted too, before or after its bytes arrive, which is how one is abandoned deliberately rather than left for the daily sweep.

**This does not remove it from any provider.** Once registered, the bytes are in that ad account’s library and are no longer ours to withdraw — `remainingRegistrations` counts the Registrations the Asset still has. Say so to the user; letting them assume otherwise is worse than refusing.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required: The Asset id.

## Response `200`

The Asset is gone from AdCrunch. `remainingRegistrations` counts the Registrations it still has, and AdCrunch cannot withdraw the bytes a provider already took.

- object
  - `ok` true, required
  - `remainingRegistrations` number, required: How many provider libraries still hold these bytes. AdCrunch cannot withdraw them. Tell the person; letting them assume otherwise is worse.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request does not match the schema of this operation: a field is missing or has the wrong type, or the body is not valid JSON. `error` is `invalid_request`, and `issues` names each field. Nothing was changed.
- `401`: No API key, or one that does not resolve. See the security scheme. `error` is `unauthorized`.
- `402`: The organization has no active subscription. An owner subscribes at `paywallUrl`. `error` is `organization_unentitled`.
- `403`: The caller does not hold `asset:write`. `error` is `forbidden`.
- `404`: No Asset with that id in this organization, reservation or stored file. A deleted one answers this too, so a second delete answers `404`. `error` is `not_found`.
