# Submit custom target request

`POST /api/v1/targets/request-custom`

## Request

Submit a new custom target (antigen) for staff review. At least one of
`sequence` or `pdb_id` must be provided. The `product_id` must be unique
within your organization.

New requests are created with `pending_review` status. Staff will review
and approve or reject the request. Approved targets receive a `material_id`
linking them to the catalog.

## Request body

- CreateCustomTargetRequest: Request payload for submitting a custom target with sequence or PDB data. Users can submit their own targets for review. At least one of `sequence` or `pdb_id` must be provided. Approved targets are added to the catalog and can be used in experiments.
  - `molecular_weight` number, double, nullable: Molecular weight in kilodaltons (kDa)
  - `name` string, required: Display name for the target
  - `note` string, nullable: Additional notes or context about the target
  - `pdb_file` string, nullable: Base64-encoded PDB file content for custom structures not in the PDB
  - `pdb_id` string, nullable: PDB database identifier (e.g., "1ABC", "6LU7")
  - `product_id` string, required: User-provided identifier, must be unique within your organization
  - `product_url` string, nullable: URL to vendor product page or documentation
  - `sequence` string, nullable: Amino acid sequence using standard single-letter codes (A-Z excluding B, J, X, Z). Supports standard 20 amino acids plus selenocysteine (U) and pyrrolysine (O).
  - `vendor` string, nullable: Source vendor name if applicable

## Response `201`

Request submitted successfully

- CreateCustomTargetResponse: Response after submitting a custom target request.
  - `created_at` string, date-time, required: ISO 8601 timestamp when the request was created
  - `id` string, uuid, required: Unique identifier assigned to the request
  - `status` 'pending_review' | 'approved' | 'rejected', required: Review status for custom target requests.

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation failed (missing sequence/pdb, invalid sequence format, duplicate product_id)
- `401`: Invalid or missing authentication token
- `403`: Insufficient permissions
- `500`: Internal server error
