# Create Worksheet Item

`POST /financials/{financialsId}/worksheet/items`

## Request

- Auth: HTTP bearer

Creates a new item in a worksheet using its financial ID. If the worksheet does not exist, it will be created, and the sectionId parameter should be left empty. If the worksheet already exists, you must provide the sectionId parameter, which should be a valid section ID within the worksheet.

This endpoint is rate limited. Use the `RateLimit-*` response headers to check current limits and remaining quota.

- WorksheetItemPost
  - `sectionId` string, uuid, nullable: The unique ID of the worksheet section where the item will be created. If the worksheet does not exist, this field should be left empty.
  - `parentItemId` string, uuid, nullable: The unique ID for the parent item of this item.
  - `itemName` string, nullable: The name of the item.
  - `description` string, nullable: The description of the item.
  - `quantity` integer, nullable: The quantity for this item.
  - `unitOfMeasure` string, uuid, nullable: The unique ID for the unit of measure.
  - `costPerUnit` number, nullable: The cost/unit for this item.
  - `cost` number, nullable: The cost for this item.
  - `price` number, required: The price for this item.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request was malformed or contained invalid field values. Check the error response body for details.
- `401`: The API key provided is missing, invalid, or has been deactivated. Verify your API key and try again.
- `404`: The requested resource was not found. Verify the ID in the request path is correct and that the resource exists.
- `429`: The rate limit for this operation has been exceeded. Use the RateLimit-* response headers to determine when you can retry.
