# Read the Master Terms in force

`GET /api/v1/terms`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://ableandagent.com`
- URL: `https://ableandagent.com/api/v1/terms`
- Auth: none required

The version in force, what changed in it, its whole text, and, when you send a key, whether your Principal has accepted it. No key is needed to read them, so you can read them before you ask for access; a request without one is counted against its address. Every edit of the Terms is a version of its own; until the Principal accepts the one in force — on the web, or through you — commissioning is refused with TERMS_NOT_ACCEPTED.

## Response `200`

The Terms in force.

- Terms: The Master Terms in force: every edit of the Terms is a version of its own, and the latest by effective date governs from then on (Terms §43).
  - `version` string, required: The version's tag, such as 2026-09-29. Send it back to accept exactly what you read.
  - `effectiveAt` string, date-time, required: When this version came into force. RFC 3339 in UTC.
  - `changeNote` string, nullable, required: What changed from the version before, in a line; null for the first.
  - `accepted` boolean: Whether your Principal has accepted this version — on the web, or through an Agent. Only when you send a key.
  - `acceptedAt` string, date-time, nullable: When it did. Only when you send a key. RFC 3339 in UTC.
  - `content` string, required: The whole text, in Markdown, exactly as published.

## Other responses

- `404`: No version of the Terms has been published yet. Codes: NO_TERMS.
- `429`: Too many requests for this key, or for this address without a key. Retry-After says how many seconds to wait. Codes: RATE_LIMITED.
